Chapter 10: Levelized Learning
All assignments for Chapter 10 due by the beginning of class on Monday Feb. 2nd

Level One: Must complete 5 assignments

Define all vocabulary terms for the chapter.
List all subtitles (blue) from the chapter and turn them into a question.
Copy the dates: 63 B.C., 6 A.D., 66 A.D., 132 A.D., and 700 A.D. onto a timeline and tell what happened on those dates.
Memorize the levels of the church hierarchy. Pg. 355 (Make this your last assignment for level 1 and when you turn your paper in you can write down with me watching.)
List 5 facts for the section titled “A Growing Faith” and five facts for the section titled “The Early Church”.
Find and state the state main ideas for each section.
List the reasons for the forming of the Christianity religion.

Level Two: Must complete 4 assignments

Create a four column chart that includes the headings: What I Know, What I Want to Know, What I Learned, and How Can I Learn More. Classify information from the chapter under these four headings.
Research the history of the holiday of Christmas and tell how Christmas today is not related to its original meaning.
Explain the parables listed in the chapter by explaining what each one means.
Identify the areas the Paul traveled spreading Christianity by tracing the map on page 352. Only color what is colored in the book.
Explain the main idea from each section by listing 2 supporting details for each main idea.
Compare and contrast Christianity to Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism which we have already studied. (4 column chart)

Level Three: Must complete 3 assignments

Illustrate a collage about a certain event that is going on in the world today. (The picture of the Last Supper on page 347 is an example of how important art was.)
Write a parable about a life lesson that you learned by using the ones from page 345 as an example.
Choose one of Jesus’ disciples and write a one-page essay about that person’s life.
Use a timeline to list all major events that occurred in chapter 10.

Level Four: Must complete 2 assignments

Compare the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church by creating a Venn diagram. (Must have at least 3 reasons for each category)
Research one of the following groups: Peace Corps, AmeriCorp, World Health Organization (WHO), and the Red Cross. Answer these two questions: 1. How do these programs differ from the missionaries discussed on pages 362 & 363? 2. How are modern programs similar to these missionaries?
Research the areas Paul traveled from the map on page 352. Answer these questions: 1. What forms of transportation could Paul have used on his journeys? 2. What types of terrain did Paul have to cross? 3. What forms of transportation would make it easier for us to travel in the same area today? 4. What would be difficult about traveling in that region today?
